TIL about the “Ribbon synapse” which is here found at a cone terminal with BCs and HCs (horizontal cells).
The ribbon synapse should be visible as a small dark band with vesicles on both sides. These ribbons are a specialization at the photoreceptor and bipolar cell terminals. Outside the retina, they are present in a few sensory cells. They are thought to allow for well-controlled, persistent neurotransmitter release
satisfying!
ok, this is legitimately way cool. When can we trace these bad boys? lol
bipolar cells (yellow, different types), horizontal cells(pink - check the lil purple one it’s crazy!) and GCs blue

are there rods and cones in this dataset?
Also what are the lil’ purple ones?
O.M.G.!! I found EW 2’s version of blackspill! xD

Wow. Is this the retina sample, we’re working on in EW2??
