Hi Unclewilley,
The Z Cubes are a set of particularly difficult and tricky cubes that have been picked out for player’s to test themselves and their tracing abilities. The points that you receive on Z Cubes are based on how much you agreed with the correct trace. If you’re getting lower points, you may be missing some nubs, branches or adding some mergers. Remember this is a test of your accuracy (and the cell is not worth double points like a lightning cell).
The Z Cubes Challenge cell has to be modified a certain way so everyone has access to the same 13 cubes on a cell. Since we have to set up this challenge in a particular way, the list of cubes available is NULL despite there actually being 13 cubes for you to play. You’ll know you have played all 13 cubes when you get the message that you have run out of cubes to play on the cell.
We are aware of reports from our players about the automatic cube generator not working after cube submission on Z Cubes. This is an intermittent bug that we’ve found has randomly affected some players. We believe it has to do with users internet connection speeds and the processes that must be accessed when playing Z Cubes. As I’ve stated before, we had to modify to rules for the Z Cubes Challenge cell. The setup is somewhat out of the normal parameters in which Eyewire operates. We’re taking this as a learning opportunity and will apply it to any future “evil cubes challenges”.
We’ve found the best fix is to simply refresh and “Start Playing” again on the Z Cubes cell (I believe you do not need to sign in/out again). We’re really sorry this is not an efficient but rather cumbersome process for all of our players.
I hope that helps explain some things.
Best,
M.
