I do a little networking here and there, but like why does the wiki need to be run on port 88? Also, it is not secured with HTTPS.
Hey there! I’ve passed this along to Princeton since they’re the ones managing the wiki hosting at the moment. One of the developers, Will, has said about the port: “Probably someone was either running the server without root access (required for port 80) or some other service was listening on port 80 and no one wanted to put nginx in front of them or mess with some configuration.”
Never mind the first part about that, actually. Root access is required for anything lower than port 1024.
