What are the criteria for drawing the neurons?

i did the tutorial, but nevertheless did not understand the criteria for drawing the neuron. I understand that we see 2 dimensional pictures of retinal slices. and can follow the 3 dim path we suggest. But I do not understand what i should be looking for to continue the neuron.

is there a scientific paper describing the process used to generate the information given to the players?

The only criteria is to colour/pain within the lines of the original given AI segment(s).

For example in the attached picture cyan is correct and green (explore mode) is wrong.

If its inside the borders it is -usually- correct.

Having said this the 2D and AI can offer…challenges to the players. like misalignments, black spills, no-border mergers, AI mergers etc.
