There are currently no tasks available

I keep getting the “There are no tasks available” window when I try to play.  How often are new tasks generated?

Are the new tasks automatically assigned as they become available, or is there a time of day when the new tasks are available?

Hey krittenhouse,

Thanks for being such a dedicated Eyewirer!  Yes, you have in fact done all of the tasks that we have available so far.  Task spawning is done continuously and is dependent on enough users completing a given task to be confident in the result.  How many we spawn depends on a few things, the most important being the number of users we have playing at any given time.  It can also depend somewhat on the neuron we are currently working on.  If it’s a large branching neuron (or part thereof) we will spawn lots of tasks.  If it’s long and straight with very little branching, then we will spawn tasks more slowly.  So far, from what we’ve seen, we can spawn 150-200 tasks on a good day.  On a slower day it may be less than 50.  The moral of the story is that if you want to have more tasks available, go out and recruit your friends!  The more people we have doing this, the more tasks will be available, and correspondingly, the more we will accomplish together!

One final note, we are actually nearing the end of Cell 7 so we’ve started to slow down on the spawning.  We’ll get a new neuron up and running soon.

You’re welcome!  Do you have any recommendations on what I can do to stop the shaking and twitching withdrawal symptoms?

Hmmm, I’m thinking a bit of tetris to ease the EyeWire withdrawal symptoms?

Yesterday I dropped a Methylene Blue crystal into a bottle of pond water and watched micro-organisms swim around with my microscope…

We’ve started spawning new tasks again, so there should be more stuff for you to down now.  At least for a little while…
