It seems recently that scores, including mine, are tending much lower. I also notice that there is less to do and/or correct for most tasks. Has the computer program changed? Has the scoring changed? Am I losing my grip?
Same experience for me. Lot’s of simple tasks, which may be reasonable for starting on a new neuron.
It would be good to have some kind of guideline about the scoring to give you info about whether you are being effective…not sure where to find that information…
Scoring has been discussed in other threads. 20 is the new 0 depending on how long you take to do the task. We wanted to reward time spent on a task even if there was nothing to do. You get a baseline score which ramps up from 0 to 20 over the course of a minute or two as you work on the task. If you finish before then, you will get anywhere from 0 to 20 + whatever accuracy points you earned. Sometimes it takes a while to establish that there’s nothing left to add, and we wanted to reward that checking too.
I’m seeing the same thing too… especially for some tasks that take a really long time to mark up and that I’m adding a lot too. It makes me feel like I’m just getting a huge amount wrong now, which would be disappointing and a little odd. I’m sure there is a certain amount incorrectly marked… but I rarely get more than 20 these days, and that’s quite different to a week or two ago.
You guys are right. It looks like the average points awarded has gone down substantially recently. It’s odd because we haven’t changed any of the scoring code… There are a few possibilities. 1) We spawned a bunch of garbage tasks recently because of a few mergers that we had. There may be less consensus on those tasks. 2) We are working on a new cell. It’s possible that there is something about this cell which is not conducive to giving out points. 3) It’s possible that we inadvertently introduced a bug into the scoring by changing something else.
Noticing much the same thing. I took a little hiatus due to the pushed out beta and some strange issues that were frustrating me. So I’m back and the scoring seems really skewed. I’ll get around 1 to 20 points on average and some of those I had done a good bit of work to and others I did nothing but scroll through the slides. I just a few minutes ago aborted a task that to me definitely had something wrong with it. It was like a mini cell body and it was just a big ball of fragments. It was therefore very difficult to tell what belonged and what didn’t. FWIW it looked kind of streaky in places like the micro-tome had been dull or dirty and scraped the matter as opposed to cutting it.
The best I had was a 60 pointer and that too made me wonder as -IIRC- I had painted just two little dots.
So confused.
OK… I take it back. Since playing today it seems like the scoring is more back to normal. Thanks
Glad to hear it smalljude!
Yeah, we’ve noticed an uptick in scoring, but we’re still not entirely sure why it dropped in the first place. We’ll keep researching!
Just to confirm, I completed my first official cube and received 20 points. I then completed my second cube and gained 800 points. Personally, I feel the 20 points for my 1st try was fair (retrospectively, I must have made a lot of mistakes), which prepared me for the second, hence my score on that one.
