Initial run: automated synapse labeling

Here is a preliminary automated synapse labeling output from lab. It detects PSDs (post-synaptic densities, thickened cell membranes indicative of synapses). This is from a sample cortex dataset. The large dark circles that you see in EM are mitochondria and the tiny dots are vesicles. The branch with thick black around it is a myelinated axon.

EDIT: This post will only be up for a few days since we aren’t publicly sharing this research yet - just wanted to share with Eyewirers!

Is this anything like what Princeton uses to determine Zfish candidates?

In zfish we manually find and follow synapses to find candidates.
