GAMES ARE LIVE! Here are some Tips and Tricks to Succeed with your TEAM!

So, the Eyewire games are going, but of course there have been a few small problems (as expected). There are a LOT more players than is typical, but for the most part, things have smoothed out.

However, there are a few things that I think are important for everyone, new players and old, should know. And please, if you have something to add to my short starting list, please reply with suggestions so they can be added. Here we go with tips and tricks to play well and do the most for your team:

First, you need to declare which team you’re on here: http://blog.eyewire.org/the-eyewire-games-begin-feb-13/. Then, once you log into the game, fly your team color by typing /team enterteamhere (facebook, reddit, twitter, g+ or teamx).

What is REALLY important for new players is to go through the entire tutorial; this is the best way for you to learn the basic things to look for and how to earn points well. Please don’t skip the tutorials!

Sometimes the game will run a bit slow, as in it will load or draw slowly. Or, for some other reason, you may need to refresh. You can do this by hitting ctrl+r or doing a typical refresh. When you do this, you may be reset to a different cell than your team’s cell. Just click on ‘change cell’ (blue button, upper left in the overview) to make sure you’re in the right cell.

Be sure and check the lower right corner for commands, color changing for the 3D view, sound control, etc.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions in chat, but do complete the tutorials and check out the commands, as sometimes they’ll answer your questions!

Hi
Being an older (fashioned) guy I still do not use any of the more or less social media representing the teams and stick to email. Frankly, I do not need the gaming framework to work on some cells now and then and enjoy the progress.
Today I find myself in TEAMX. Is this the group for those who have not declared themselves (yet)? Then it’s fine with me. Otherwise I would think there should be an option or clarification  for those who wish to stay out of the team charts.
Best

Hi Peterahn,

Team X is for veterans of EyeWire, or who don’t use social media.  You’ve been here for quite a while, so that may be the team for you anyway.

When you log onto EyeWire it currently randomly assigns you a team to work on, so each time you log in it will be different.  You can manually change to your chosen team by clicking on ‘Change Cell’ in the upper left  corner of the page.
