Does anyone know what’s going on with Eyewire right now? I know the chat message that pops up on login says they’re experiencing technical issues. But I find myself wondering what kind of technical issues Eyewire is experiencing. Does anyone know / have time to explain? TIA!
The spawner (what creates new cubes/updates existing ones) had some issues about a week ago (wasn’t working) but that was (at least in part) fixed, and the zfish dataset mesher (what creates the 3D) isn’t working, and sometimes playing lags and/or fails when I reap a cube, but beyond that Idk more. An admin might be able to give you a better answer.
Thank you Nseraf!
Hi amity42,
Thanks for asking! Nseraf is correct about the spawner issues we had for the past couple of weeks. I just forgot to remove the message from the chat before the weekend, so thanks for posting and reminding me that I had to manually update that
. Regular Eyewire should be working OK now
Best,
M.
PS. We’ve been working away at new datasets here in the lab including a more friendly user platform for citizen scientists to access them!
Thank you Sorek!
I can’t wait to hear more about the new datasets you mentioned. I am hungry For Science!
well idk what -other- datasets they have in the lab that are not released yet but here’s some that we have access to as a sneak peak:
the sandbox is the dataset that new players (will) initially have access to in eyewire 2/pyr for tutorials etc as part of the learning curve before being allowed/given access to the production datasets. Flywire brain and BANC are two ‘older’ datasets that are in a fly, flywire is a brain only, banc is brain and spine, CA3 is a mouse hippocampus (also older dataset) MiCrons is as of yet view only (we can’t edit in it yet), Eyewire 2 is a new mouse retina dataset we’ve been working in past 1+ year or so, same neurons as eyewire but much much larger a dataset (several hundred thousand cells), and MEC (medial etc) is a mouse cortex if not mistaken (would have been neo then renamed to pyr) and the future with microns and ew2, we can edit/ complete cells in MEC but we haven’t yet been given a MEC specific task yet.
I should mention that unless something’s changed to gain access to these, one must be a mystic first. Zfish cells with MSTY are the closest thing eyewire can get to how things are done in ew2/pyr.
Wow, that all sounds so cool. Especially Eyewire 2 having several hundred thousand cells-- That’s so many to trace!
My eventual goal is to become a mystic, but I feel I have a whole lot to learn before I get there. Right now my focus is on gaining experience as a scout.
From what I’ve seen the past couple of months you’re on a good path
Thank you so much!
