Expansion

From the look on the forums and the site it seems that there are too few people on contributing, this is a large project that would take a lot of people to complete it in a reasonable amount of time, I don’t deny that the amount of time people have given to this site so far has not been helpful to you I just believe that the rate of growth is minimal and more people are needed to really get it going.

I suggest taking it to the next level by trying to bring it to a new platform so it will have more exposure, take a page out of notch’s book on this one and release it as an alpha of the game because clearly it is still in development, also by trying to get some of the big gaming platform companies such as steam to see if they will allow you to put it up on there program as a free-to-play game. Also allow for donations then funnel those back into the game itself to improve on its features. You really need to get a lot of gamers to see this so try getting an article about it on some gaming magazine websites, I would suggest the escapist since they tend to love a mixture of science and games.

The more testers you have the faster this will progress and I believe it needs too.

Hey golion,

Thanks!  Great suggestions!  Stay tuned, as there are a few things coming down the pipe, which will help increase our player numbers!

Also, one of the ways that we want to grow is through player involvement.  We’re coming up with more ways that you can help grow the community.  The easiest is just to get your friends playing.  That having been said, if you can come up with other things that you can do to help, let us know!  We’re very eager to have help growing this community wherever we can find it!

Was there any more investigation of getting this game into the Zooniverse group? I see that Cancer research UK has a task that is image classification related, similar to what Eyewire does.

Incidentally, I am unsure as to what the current player numbers are as I have been engaged in other matters for about a year or so, but Fold-It seems to have around approximately 150 - 200 very regular players, and that has been going since 2008 with much greater exposure. Many people try the game, but most quit since it is only for a school class. It is kind of like the notion that the readership of any book is inversely proportional to the number of equations, the same might be true of players for interactive science games.
