I just got back in after a few days of ‘abstinence’, but I seem to be seeing new tasks that begin with two identifiably different structures rather than one, as has always been the case previously. For example there might be two distinct tube-like structures side-by-side or branching off, without having any common section in the sample. In one task, I extended one such ‘branch’ by quite a lot, yet scored 20 points, which I interpreted as having got it wrong.
@simulacron3: I have noticed the same phenomenon. I think this occurs for some tasks in Cell 8, which is new. Somewhere on the Eyewire website, perhaps the FAQs, I found instructions that indicate if we come across a task that looks like it has 2 (or more) distinct structures that have been incorrectly merged, we should abort the task, indicating that is why we are aborting. I’m just a fellow ‘player’. Perhaps an eyewire team member can chime in.
Also, I’ve noticed that a large number of tasks score 20 points. I’m wondering if this is the new default score for a ‘trailblazer’, which previously scored 0.
Yup, readingite is correct. This is what we call a merger it happens when there’s a mistake either in the AI or in previous validations. We need to identify these so that we don’t create more tasks like this and so that we can take the existing ones out of rotation.
