New scythe map

hi when looking at the new scythe map the blue colour for scythe complete is so intense that it is taking all the fokus from the trace i am looking at, and it is also to little difference from the light blue normal cube and the scythed one. think it would be better to have back the orange scythed colour and instead change chat colour of scythes if you want that. Like it is now i have to use some filter like show me me to make it less intense.(works in mystics not so much in normal cells)

For what itā€™s worth, I agree.

Thanks for the feedback. We will play around with adding more differentiation between scythe blue and normal blue.

for me i can well distinguish between new scythe-blue and player-ā€œblueā€ which i see as cyan. Just have problems learning that blue is scythed, and duplis orange from now on (the latter actually reasonable due to orange when inside cube). Still: Perhaps make normal a bit more to green as is chat-color?
Complete-votes-colors better now.

Lol, 2 days later, i must revise my above comment.
Iā€™m totally lostā€¦
The color for normal should be quite diff from other actions, because these are still progressing or must be looked at. (i can well distinguish, but mentallyā€¦) New reap-blue is too close to normal. If you want to stay with strategy Ā« chatcolor <-> color in scythe-heapmap Ā» perhaps change color for normal from cyan to green. But then, what color take for Ā« showing children/parent ? lol
Also, earlier it was clear, purples are scythings. Now, the pink for first sc is quite near to orange for scout. These have nothing to do with eachother. Also the earlier blue duplis you saw very well, the new yellow ones (why not orange as inside cube) you hardly see when not looking close. Duplis should stand out, because they have to be looked at immediately. See pic:

As others said, the new colors are too close, looking nice, but no help for scythes. Also: 4 years used to something - now change - not as easy.

Also, colors in legend do not correspond well with colors in neuron-ov. For example the pink for 2 sc-s in legend looks almost like purple of 3 sc-s in my screen. (Thatā€™s not as important though, one can check that with experience).
So in summary ā€“ i would go back to old color-system ļŠ

I agree, that the previous colors were better, at least for me. Both the new and the old are easily differentiable for me, but with the earlier version it was easier to say, what has happened with each cube. There are 4 milliard colours in the 32-bit palette and we donā€™t have to limit ourselves to blue and its variations.
If the previous version was to be restored, I would say, that only 1SC and 2SC could be more differentiated and maybe normal could be a little more green and a little less mint.
Also, maybe it would be good to add a different color to show, in which cubes MSTY has already been and which are still new.
Having orange in chat instead of violet would be great too :slight_smile:

Ah, I am the weirdo of the group in that i am having a lot of trouble differentiating between the reaped blue and the cyan. The two colors are just too close for me/my computer to see much difference. While i am sure I will get used to the change in time (well, iā€™ll never be able to see it better, just quirky like that, lol), I liked the very obvious color difference as it was before. :slight_smile:

i have also that problem atani

me too, see my revision-entries above :slight_smile:

I also find that scoutā€™s flag and dupe are also very similar and confusing.

Thanks for all these comments - weā€™re playing around with the colors to see if we can add more differentiation. Remember that though not in the heatmap, green is spoked for by highlight.

To summarize the requests:

  • broaden the color difference between normal and scythe
  • Scout, SC 1, and duplicate are too close
  • SL to match overview colors

I understand it might take a while to get used to this change and Iā€™m sorry for disrupting your flow with Eyewire! We think in the long run it will make ScytheVision and especially Scythe Complete easier to use.

What if you swapped scythe blue for highlight green?

I agree with what everyone just basically said lol.
Amy if you can make those requests possible, it would be exactly what I would need to get back into the scouting mood! =D

Hey all,

Played around a bit in the Document Object Model, hereā€™s how you can change what shows up.

Open the Dev Console (ctrl-shift-I in chrome), and paste the following into the console line.

Cell.ScytheVisionColors.base="#4ef1b5"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete1="#fcd2f3"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete2="#f672d9"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete3="#b92af1"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.duplicate="#1c32dc"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.frozen="#d2d2d2"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.reap="#ea092e"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.review="#ffd23e"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.scythed="#ffa23e"

Then switch to another cell.

You can change whichever you want, just remember to use hex codes and donā€™t forget the #. It will only persist until you refresh, so youā€™ll need to do this whenever you log into EW or refresh the page.

For reference, thereā€™s a handy color-Hex picker that you can use here: https://www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_picker.asp

Hope it helps!

in case Jousterā€™s ctrl+shift+I doesnā€™t work hereā€™s another set of instructions:

Press F12
Go to ā€œconsoleā€

Paste:
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.base="#4ef1b5"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete1="#fcd2f3"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete2="#f672d9"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete3="#b92af1"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.duplicate="#1c32dc"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.frozen="#d2d2d2"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.reap="#ea092e"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.review="#ffd23e"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.scythed="#ffa23e"

In red arrow above (after clicking in there).
press enter.
Change cell. :smiley:

also, if you want to change the colours go to joustā€™s link grab a set of #ffa23e 's for each of the colours replace, and paste those.

Also if you set this on a cell that cell will change back and forth to default. so you might want to make the paste/change on a cell you wonā€™t be using/playing/scything/scouting on.

have fun! lol

Thanks for making the color switcher @JousterL!

I just suggested this in chat but there wasnā€™t much interest so posting here: weā€™d like to work with you guys to get a good set of default colors that are clearly differentiable across the scythe vision statuses. You can test out iterations yourself using Jousterā€™s script.

Here are the hex codes of our current colors:

Normal: #4fdcf1
Complete 1: #f78aa8
Complete 2: #cc4dde
Complete Admin: #6f3ba3
Scythe: #427ffe
Scout: #ffa23e
Admin: #f82f51
Split: #ff42ff
Frozen: #d2d2d2
duplicate: #eada5b

Based on feedback above, there is a request for variances in color difference between Normal and Scythe

Potential new colors for Normal:
A. #33e2da
B. #4ef1e2

Do you think either of these are better?

Play around with these hues in picker and send us your suggestions!

Hi, i was away but iā€™d love to help redesign :slight_smile:

these are my colours:

Cell.ScytheVisionColors.base="#4ef1b5"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete1="#fcd2f3"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete2="#f672d9"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete3="#b92af1"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.duplicate="#1c32dc"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.frozen="#d2d2d2"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.reap="#ea092e"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.review="#ffd23e"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.scythed="#b74600"

normal isnt the prob on its own, I think the three major (for me at least) probs are:

  1. scythed is blue.
  2. scout flag and dupe are almost identical in my screens (i have 4 plus laptop so a larger ā€œvarietyā€ lol)
  3. the complete 1 and 2 vote colours donā€™t have a big dif -again- and the 1 vote is almost pink which makes it tough to differentiate from other colours.

so hereā€™s a pic of my colours:

not sure what others think/like of these but to me/my screens I can clearly see all different colours in question, 1/2/admin complete and normal are clearly distinguished.

I like blue as dupe because itā€™s sparse/few cubes far between and they get resolved, whereas scythed for blue isā€¦everywhere lol (as is normal and sooner or later complete colours).

And in trying to understand where you come from/what you want to do/philosophy, why do all the colours in ui/overview/badges have to match?

thanks

if i had to choose between the two iā€™d go with A. personally, but imo it has to be a colour with almost no blue on if we canā€™t convince you to change scythed to anything but blue (or back to original orange)

Thanks Jouster!!

hereā€™s what i came up with

and this is the console code for it

Cell.ScytheVisionColors.base="#00e6e6"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete1="#e699ff"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete2="#730099"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.complete3="#990000"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.duplicate="#0040ff"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.frozen="#d2d2d2"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.reap="#ac3939"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.review="#ffff00"
Cell.ScytheVisionColors.scythed="#ff8000"

These allow me to see variation easily

As to the colors you proposed to be a the new base color, Iā€¦cannot see a difference in them :crying_cat_face:
